As a multi-disciplined Game Designer, Game Artist & 3D artist, I use a traditional methodology and modern Physically Based Rendering (PBR) workflows. In 2014 I graduated from Norwich University of the Arts (NUA) while studying BA (Hons) Games Art & Design. Then in 2020, I graduated from Game Design at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) while studying Master of Arts (MA) in Game Design. In this course, I focused my research on Gamification within Education and how Game Design; could be used outside the gaming environment.
Since I graduated from my undergraduate course, I have self-taught many different methodology software and skillsets. These skills include high to low poly, Game Engine, blueprint system within Unreal Engine, procedural based textures, Game-ready assets, UV Mapping, Pixel density management, Polycount budgets, substance Designer/ paint and now recently self-teaching Unreal Engine 5.
I also use the following software:
This creative journey started back in 2009 in college which I studied Btec National Diploma in Graphic Art and Design at Great Yarmouth College. This course introduced me to many different disciplines include Graphics, Photography, Fine Art, Printmaking Art History, and Fashion; Which I graduated from this course with a triple grade Distinction, Distinction, Merit. My origins in fine art mean I have a more traditional fine art to the processes with knowledge of art fundamentals, principles & methodology.
My seven years worth of 3D game development has given me the Epiphany of my career of becoming a 3D Artist. I studied the pipeline of the Games Industry includes the origins of video games, 3D processes, Concept Art, Games Design and even Quality Assurance. I have an efficient mindset with attention to detail while building his assets, implementing poly-count limits and how this could look like in the game, what my colleagues may need that I can with and even strong time management.
In 2017, I got approached by Great Yarmouth College to display my 3D Artwork at their college to inspire the next generation of students; for this project, I created a PlayStation themed scene to express the inspiration of loneliness.
In 2019, I gained studio experience at a small independent game studio called Nanny Goat Games who was working on a collaborative project with another studio. I was hired as a Games Artist to take their existing 3D scene and upgrade and improve their racing game; this is where I modelled a tired fence that would have been attached to a spline logic to extend around the track; however, there was a split between the two studios causing our studio to rethink of a new game design then eventually the collapse of the studio.
